Godfrey Okumu, a Kenyan national who has helped train the University of the Philippines’ women’s volleyball team, has been officially named the Lady Maroons’ new head coach.
Okumu took over from Jerry Yee, who resigned in September. UP made the announcement Saturday.
He has worked with UP since June last year, and has since joined them in training camps in Baguio and Japan.
He will lead a Lady Maroons team bannered by Isa Molde, Diana Carlos and Justine Dorog, who will try to return to the semifinals this season.
Last year, UP reached the final four after having been eliminated early for 13 seasons in a row.
