There is another reason to be happy when you’re on the side of UP Fighting Maroons next season. Will Gozum, NCAA Juniors MVP, is set to make a comeback in Diliman as Coach Bo Perasol confirms his commitment to the UP Men’s Basketball Team starting next season.
Gozum is a familiar face to UP fans as he was once teammates with the Gomez de Liaño brothers, Juan and Javi. After being cut from the roster of UPIS due to reasons left undisclosed, Gozum stood out as an impressive prospect and he eventually carried Mapua High School to a championship match with La Salle Green Hills. In fact, he also made it to the FIBA 2023 list released by Coach Chot Reyes.
The news broke out on the first day of love month, and the whole UP community showed nothing but love upon hearing the story:

Gozum is a versatile big who will, no doubt, help out with the Fighting Maroons’ 4-spot. He can also play at the 5 to spell Nigerian Bright Akhuetie.

Will Gozum will join Paul Desiderio, the GDL brothers and Jun Manzo in carrying UP into its final four aspirations. He is a key addition to an already exciting lineup of new players suiting up for the State U in UAAP Season 81 with Bright Akhuetie and Jaydee Tungcab.
