UP standout Jett Manuel was selected 12th in the 2017 PBA Draft, but he was one of the stars of the Twitterverse on Sunday after being chosen by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Manuel joined number two overall pick Kiefer Ravena and sixth pick Rey Nambatac as one of the top 10 trending topics on Sunday night.
The licensed civil engineer had instant fans after his selection on Sunday, thanks to the legions of supporters of the freshly-minted 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup champions.
His school team was particularly proud of his accomplishment. “Congratulations to the first ever engineer in the PBA!” said the UP Fighting Maroons in a tweet.
Another Maroon, Dave Moralde, was the 10th pick of the third round of the draft and went to TNT.
The PBA draft was held on Sunday. Gilas Pilipinas star Christian Standhardinger was the top pick,going to the San Miguel Beermen. — BM, GMA News
